Ragworms
The most used ragworm by anglers is the
Nereis diversicolor. This worm can be found
at low tide and you have them to dig them up.
They make their 20 cm long burrows in the sand.
This is a hunting worm, unlike Lugworm,
who can be found at larger numbers at low tide.
Ragworms are preferred more then lgworms as ragworms
easely survive some days storage, lugworms don't.

At night they hunt for fish , common shrimp and
other Crustacea and lugworm. They are beautiful
and fast swimmers.

fish and crab .

The King ragworm is a green monster worm, up to 40 cm long
with a ferocious bite.

The body is divided in segments, only the first
two segments differ from the other.
The headcontain short antennae , eyes and two jaws.

The nuchal organ is the nose of the worm. its used to
trace its prey.
The Nephidae are the worms kidney's, and make
it possible to survive brackish water.
The blood circulation is very simple, there is
only one dorsal arterial bloodvessel, with two (lateral)
arteries in every segment, providing the oxygen and food.
The ventral vein collects blood the blood, where it is
brought to the pharynx, were it is pomped to the dorsal
artery.

Here it waits until the evening and leaves it
tunnels to hunt.
